Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars like there was no tomorrow. And, all over a G.I. Jane joke. The joke went:
Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.
All though will initially was caught on camera laughing at Chris’ G.I. Jane joke(below)…it appeared that at some point he saw that Jada was emotional over Chris’ jab – and felt he had to do something immediately in healing Jada’s pain and discomfort. And, that pain and comfort reliever came in the form of the A-list actor walking onstage towards Chris, and delivering what appeared at first to be a punch to the face that turned out to be a massive slap that echoed through Chris’ microphone.
It’s rumored that Will lost it on Chris, because Jada has alopecia and was vocal over the last several years about losing her hair. A very sensitive topic for many females. But, the argument is, just because many knew of Jada’s hair lost battle- it shouldn’t be assumed that Chris knew. Surprisingly, Tiffany Haddish thought it was a beautiful sight to see Will assault Chris, saying:
As a woman, who has been unprotected, for someone to say, ‘Keep my wife’s name out your mouth, leave my wife alone,’ that’s what your husband is supposed to do, right? Protect you.
And that meant the world to me. And maybe the world might not like how it went down, but for me, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen because it made me believe that there are still men out there that love and care about their women, their wives.
She also criticized Chris’ joke saying:
“I think Chris was messy. As a woman who had a husband, I wish my husband would have stood up for me the way Will stood up for Jada. That’s what every woman wants, right? She was hurt. And he protected his wife. And that’s what a man is supposed to do.”
Saying another comedian is messy in his delivery of jokes is quite surprising coming from a fellow comedian as Tiffany. She is known to be vulgar and over-the-top in her delivery of her jokes.
