Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been arrested, and charged in the death of George Floyd. Chauvin reportedly pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes.
The former officer refused to removed his knee from Floyd’s neck even after he said he was having difficulty breathing. It’s said that Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck even after he was unresponsive for approximately two minutes. The world is coming down on the former police officer now.
Chauvin’s wife filed for divorce from him while he has now been transferred to a maximum security jail. Chauvin has been charged with third degree murder and man slaughter in Floyd’s death.
Despite Chauvin’s arrest, a surge of protest across the country continues. Three other officers who stood by and watched as Chauvin stifled the life out of Floyd have yet to face justice.
