Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is rich, and living the life many of us could only dream of, but the star quarterback revealed he is going through depression. Sports critic, Skip Bayless(above right) didn’t have the patience for the star NFL athlete who never has to work a day in his life again if she chooses. Bayless speaking from the heart forgetting the fragile world we live in said this of Dak Prescott’s saying he is depressed:
I don’t have sympathy for him going public with, I got depressed. I suffered depression early in COVID to the point that I couldn’t even go work out. Look, he is the quarterback of America’s team, and you know and I know- the sport you play in- it’s dog eat dog. It’s no compassion. No quarter given on the football field. If you reveal publicly any little weakness- it can affect your team’s ability to believe in you in the toughest spot.
It definitely can encourage others on the other side to come after you. You throw an interception…your gonna hear, depress number four. You get sacked. How that feel. You get down about it. You just can’t go public about it in my humble opinion. So, now I gotta declare who have I always been. I had a rough child hood. Broken home. Just soaked with alcohol. I had some really low moments in my child-hood, and I just kept fighting. I fought through every one of them. I’ve had some low moments professionally where some dark times happened. You just fight. You gotta fight back. You can’t give into the depression.
Fox News released this statement in support of the NFL star quarterback saying:
“At Fox Sports, we are proud of Dak Prescott for publicly revealing his struggle with depression and mental health,” said the statement. “No matter the cause of the struggle, Fox Sports believes Dak showed tremendous courage, which is evident in both his leadership on the Dallas Cowboys and in his character off the field.
We do not agree with Skip Bayless’ opinion on Undisputed this morning. We have addressed the significance of this matter with Skip and how his insensitive comments were received by people internally at Fox Sports and our audience.”
Fox Sports never granted the wishes of many who demand Bayless be fired for his comments. Can we say kudos to Fox Sports. Yes, Bayless thoughts may come across as insensitive, but what world are we living in when we are silencing the thoughts of others.
